Listeners to this mornings BBC Four Today radio programmme might have been surprised to hear reference to the "Socialist Morning Star" and its portrayal of anti intervention sentiment.

The scale of the capitalist press sign-up to Cameron's war project means that the BBC had no choice but to seek out the Star as the main expression of opposition.

That is exactly the point of listeners who have been besieging the BBC in recent weeks to ask why it refused to refer to the world's only English language daily socialist paper as a demonstration of its Charter requirement to give expression to the full range of political opinion in Britain. If it's good for Four, then it must be good for the News and Newsnight.
