Communists from all over London will gather on Saturday to discuss how to step-up the fight against job loss and cuts to public services. The meeting is open to  supporters and new members. There are still a limited number of places - to register go here. The meeting will also discuss and adopt a programme of work aimed to build the labour movement and build the CP.

The gathering is in two parts with the morning session given over to discussing how best to build CP input into the many anti cuts campaigns where communists are playing an active role. The meeting will be an opportunity to exchange experience of this struggle and will also focus on stepping up trade union action against the cuts in all London boroughs.

The meeting is to be held at the INCA CGIL offices in Highbury just a couple of minutes walk from the Victoria line station. It begins at 10am. In the afternoon there is a greater emphasis on political education with Ann Field - a leader of the struggle against the Murdoch union-busting publisher at Wapping - talking about the dispute and its lessons, 25 years on. Michael Walker, a UNISON officer [in personal capacity], will talk about cuts to health and other key services and explain his union's approach to the anti cuts struggle. Other union and community leaders will take part in this session.

CP members will have an opportunity to discuss the district programme of work which includes leafleting in 20 borough and town centres, production of campaign literature on housing and cuts to services. These will also be distributed door to door on housing estates. CP members play an important role in the trades council movement in the capital as well as the Peoples' Charter and the Coalition of Resistance. To reinforce this work the District is planning to establish a series of Marxist Education classes and meetings open to supporters and those new to the anti cuts movement.

On 12 March in Clerkenwell, the London CP will host a major rally for International Women's Day, which will have the Cuban ambassador as a guest speaker.

On 25th March, eve of the giant demonstration,  the District will host an anti cuts Social and political gathering in Kings Cross/ Grays Inn Road area.
