50th Congress

The 50th Congress of Britain's Communist Party was held at Ruskin House, Croydon on May 24-26 2008.

The attendance of 87 full and consultative delegates represented a significant increase on the 49th congress in 2006 when 72 delegates attended. This reflects the growth in party activity and membership over the preceding two years.

International guests included representatives from the Communist Party of Cuba, the Palestinian People's Party and the Connolly Youth League of Ireland together with comrades from Communist and workers parties domiciled in Britain. As well as addressing the congress, they participated in an international anti-imperialist rally and a Cuban solidarity social evening over the weekend.

In this section of the website you will find video's, details of Congress elections, reports as well as all the resolutions debated and adopted at the congress.

Marxism - an introduction

Iraqi_CPMarxism inspires millions to struggle for a better world. The Communist Manifesto is the starting point in understanding working class politics. It was written in Britain in 1847 and published the following year. The CP reprinted the Manifesto in 2005 as part of it's Classics of Communism series, read it here.
